Peter Sutherland and Mary Lou McDonald to address Forum on economic aspects of Treaty of Lisbon

Former Director-General of the World Trade Organisation and former EU Commissioner, Peter Sutherland, and Sinn Féin National Chairperson Mary Lou McDonald MEP addressed the National Forum On Europe on Thursday 3rd April 2008 on the Treaty of Lisbon. The theme of the session, held in Dublin Castle at 11.30 a.m., was: “The Economic Implications of the Treaty – a good deal for Ireland?”

Following their opening remarks, the keynote speakers debated the issues with Members of the Forum, whose Membership comprises parties and organisations both for and against the Treaty.

In advance of the referendum on the Treaty, the National Forum On Europe is also hosting a series of public meetings around the country, with prominent guest speakers both for and against the Treaty.
